Boxeo Havana Social Club

In Havana, Cuba, Samuel Fabbri from Bologna runs a boxing gym, which he opened with his friend and Olympic champion Orlandito Martinez, passed away to this day. Through the story of the daily life of the gym, marked by the approach to an eagerly awaited provincial competition, we see the stories of the boys and their coaches intertwined, in a popular anthology that uses the microcosm of the gymnasium as a basis for a universal reflection on a small but resistant nation.

Bologna and la Havana, Cuba and Emilia-Romagna: to hold them together, a common thread embodied by a single individual, who however carries with him the weight and honor of a collective history, between sport and social redemption. Cristiano Regina, an author in his first collaboration with Articolture, uses a story with unique features and an everyday life with simple features, to tell in depth and without preconceptions the reality of Cuba beyond its merely symbolic value.

Boxeo Havana Social Club is a documentary directed by Cristiano Regina, written with Ruggero Tantulli and Nuri Duarte, currently in development. We are producing it together with Fractal (Spain) and Gatorosa Films (Cuba). Filming is scheduled for the first months of 2024.

L’Agnello ha vinto il Premio come Miglior Film al Festival Annecy Cinéma Italien 2020, oltre al Premio della Giuria Giovani e al Premio del Pubblico, e il Premio Suso Cecchi D’Amico, destinato ogni anno alla Miglior Sceneggiatura Italiana con protagonista al femminile; è stato premiato ad Alice nella città – selezione ufficiale 2019 (Menzione d’onore a Nora Stassi come Miglior Talento Emergente), ed selezionato ai festival Moskow IFF, Prague IFF, Istambul IFF, Cinemed Montpellier, CPH Buster, Cinemagic UK, Denver IFF, Lucas International Children’s Film Festival (…e non è finita qui!).
