At my home
–
Mario Piredda is a young director, of Sardinian origin and Bolognese by adoption, who with “At my home” has created a work of rare sensitivity: a story that tells the search for happiness and a feeling of hope destined to grow over time despite the adverse circumstances.
In honor of his homeland, Piredda shot the short film entirely in Sardinia and in the Sardinian language, masterfully directing two faces who embody the roughness and depth of the island and the themes covered: Giusi Merli (formerly in “La Grande Bellezza” by Paolo Sorrentino) and Giulio Pau. The depopulation and loss of authenticity of the Sardinian territory and its traditions, the loneliness of the elderly and the discomfort of the new generations are transposed into a poignant winter landscape – very distant from the images and glossy contents of the summer tabloids and tourist brochures.
The short was made by a production team entirely from Bologna: Articolture, in co-production with Combo and in collaboration with Manufactory Productions, also thanks to the production support of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism-Cinema Directorate and the Sardinia Region, with the support of Sardinia Ferries. The short film will be distributed by Elefant Distribution.
In February 2016 “At my home” won the David di Donatello for Best Short Film.
